What kind of campus visits does Samford offer?

Samford offers daily campus tours, Monday through Saturday and Preview Days on select Saturdays during the fall and spring semesters.

What options are available for a Samford campus visit?

Campus tour and information session, class visit and faculty appointment.

If I want to meet with a specific department or attend a class, how do I do that?

All special arrangements must be made 2 weeks prior to your visit. We have a variety of classes available for a student to attend as well as many faculty appointments with departments across campus. To view the list available on your tour day, please choose “Yes” for “Additional Visit Requests” or give us a call at (205)726-4507.

How long is the campus tour?

The campus tour includes a 30-minute information session and 75-minute golf cart & walking tour. The total length of time will be approximately 2 hours.

Who leads the campus tour?

The tour is given by trained current students who are able to give the history, facts and current happenings on campus to inform our visitors of university traditions, academic excellence and personal experiences that a Samford Student may have.

Do I have to be a specific year in high school to attend a campus tour?

No! We welcome any high school student to join us for a campus tour. However, class visits and faculty appointments are specifically reserved for juniors and seniors.

What is included in a campus tour?

On your campus tour you will see our College of Health Sciences, Brock School of Business, newest Residence Halls Gaston and Mann, our new Recreation and Wellness Center, University Center, Library and hear about how faith is intertwined in all that we do.

What days of the week does Samford offer campus tours?

Monday through Saturday. All tours are subject to availability and fill up fast!

I’ve scheduled a tour online. What if I need to change my day, time or cancel my reservation?

I registered my guests, but now I want to bring more. What should I do?

Call our office as soon as you can at (205) 726-4507. We will do our best to accommodate your request, but we want to make sure we have seats for all who are already registered. In the event that our tour fills up and there are no extra seats, we are happy to assist you in rescheduling or offering other alternatives for your party.

When is the best time to visit campus?

We are so lucky to have a campus that is recognized as US News & World Report’s 35 Most Beautiful College Campuses in the nation, so there is really no bad time to visit! If you would like to see what a typical day is like for students on campus, we recommend visiting while class is in session.

Where do I park on campus?

Visitors are welcome to park on Sherman Circle or in visitor parking behind Ingalls Hall. Please follow University signage to find the Office of Admission and visitor parking or refer to your confirmation email.

Does Samford have hotels close by?

Yes. We partner with host hotels.

What if it is raining/planning to rain for my tour?

If the rain is light to moderate, your tour will most likely still go out. We have ponchos, umbrellas and rain golf cart covers to help keep you dry. If severe weather conditions occur, our Chief of Police will let us know and tours will be brought inside or shelter in place. In this case, your student tour guide will offer a “virtual tour of campus” in our Presentation Room and do a personal Q&A session.

Where should I have lunch during our campus visit day?

We would love to provide your family with passes to our University Cafeteria to experience our dining hall. Please request a pass at our Office of Admission front desk at the beginning or end of your tour. There are also a number of other dining options available in our University Center, including Chick-fil-a, Berry Bowls and more. Those options accept credit cards, cash or Bulldog Bucks.

What happens at Samford Preview Day?

Our fall Preview Days are designed with high school seniors in mind to help answer questions while you are in the midst of the college process. You will hear from University Leadership, admission staff, faculty and current students as well as take a central campus tour. After our morning sessions, we will have a Community Fair with tables from all academic schools and most of our student organizations so you can continue to get your questions answered. We will end our time together with lunch and cheering on the Samford Bulldogs at a sporting event (sport will depend on the season).

When does Samford host Preview Days?

Samford hosts several Preview Days in the fall and Junior Preview Day in the spring.

Does Samford travel to cities to meet students?

Yes! Samford travels across the country to meet prospective students and families. To find events near you, visit our Admission Counselor site and find the Samford Admission Counselor serving your area. Events will be listed under “Events Near You.”
