Survey of Southern Baptist Church Worship Practices in Alabama
We invite Alabama Southern Baptist Church leaders to complete the survey below to help us identify trends in worship services and provide information about their worship leadership teams.
Why This Project?
Our plan is to survey Southern Baptist Churches in the state of Alabama to discover what their musical worship practices and personnel include on a typical Sunday. We are including both qualitative data through interviews with either a pastor or worship leader and quantitative data through survey. Our goal is to get a clearer picture of how musical worship is being conducted (and by whom) in an SBC church in Alabama, regardless of size, location, or demographic factors. Particularly, we are interested in what the worship leadership landscape looks like after the pandemic with hopes to discover what is the new "norm" for the typical SBC church, including what things are working and also where there are challenges and potential for development.
As we embark on this project, we have several goals:
- Gain a clearer picture of the worship practices of the SBC church in Alabama.
- Discover a clearer picture of who is leading worship in terms of demographics but also size of leadership teams and instrumentation.
- Share our findings with churches and church leaders to help them see the current landscape of worship.
- Share successful practices from one context that might be new or unfamiliar in another context.
- Gain a clearer understanding of how we can move forward as an educational institution that is committed to training and equipping emerging leaders and serving the local church. Ideally, this data will be helpful for other leadership entities that serve the church (e.g., seminaries, denominational offices, etc.).
The Survey
Only one survey per church is required, and the survey will take 20-25 minutes to complete.
