Samford Giving Day is a 24-hour celebration where the university’s alumni, students, parents, employees and friends come together to support areas across campus. This year’s donations reached new heights, allowing for the future success of the programs, people and possibilities of the Samford community.

“Giving Day is all about the power of collective giving, and its impact is evident in the amount raised by so many people coming together for one purpose,” said Sydney Talley ’11, director of annual giving.

Talley led the university-wide campaign, with emails, social media posts and on-campus engagements communicating the mission of the annual event. University Advancement announced that more than 1,350 individuals contributed this year, surpassing the goal of 1,200 donors within the window. The event raised more than $300,000—the most ever raised on  Samford Giving Day—with donor-based challenges and dollar-for-dollar matches helping to achieve the sum.

“We are delighted and so grateful to have exceeded our goal of 1,200 individuals giving a gift to our beloved university on Samford Giving Day,” Talley said. “It is truly heartwarming to see the tremendous display of generosity by so many alumni, students, employees, parents, friends and community members.”

Whether a donation to the 10 academic schools, the student emergency assistance fund or one of our 17 Division I athletic teams, every gift makes an impact. The campaign also allowed donors to share why they give to Samford and to make donations in honor or memory of someone else.

“Every gift from this 24-hour campaign, regardless of size, will contribute to Samford’s continued success,” said Talley. “We cannot wait to see how the Lord uses these gifts to change lives across our campus community.”
