Homecoming Weekend 2024 is approaching Nov. 1 -2, and for those who haven’t started making plans to return to campus, now is the time.
“On behalf of the Samford University Alumni Association, we look forward to alumni and friends joining us back on campus for Homecoming,” said Casey Ramey, executive director of alumni and philanthropic engagement. “The friendships that are made by alumni truly last a lifetime, and Homecoming is a wonderful time to gather back on campus and enjoy time at their alma mater.”
Last year, the Samford University Alumni Association added two new Friday events that will return as part of this year’s schedule. The Homecoming Lecture Series on Friday from 3-5 p.m. allows alumni to revisit the classroom and enjoy learning from Samford’s world-class faculty. Topics this year include cybersecurity in the classroom, the intersection of music and our faith, and a behind-the-scenes look at the University Archives.
Complete Homecoming activities schedule
Beginning at 5:30 p.m., the Homecoming Quad Party will be the official launch of the weekend. Join fellow alumni and their families on the Quad for an exciting carnival with bounce houses for children, yard games and complimentary food. There is no registration for this event, and concessions will be on a first-come, first-served basis.
On Saturday, the fun continues. The Classes of 2014, 1999 and 1974 each will host a reunion. These reunion events require pre-registration, and links for each group can be found on the homecoming webpage.
Saturday’s tailgating on the Quad runs from 11 a.m. through 1:30 p.m. Alumni Association tailgates will take place on the west side of the Quad, at Alumni Village, behind Hodges Chapel. All alumni are encouraged to visit Alumni Village for lunch and fellowship.
The Bulldog Walk takes place at noon—two hours before kickoff of the football game against Wofford—starting at the south entrance of the Ralph W. Beeson University Center and ending at Sullivan-Cooney Fieldhouse. Tickets for Samford vs. Wofford football game can be purchased here.
In addition to Alumni Association festivities, there will also be an array of events hosted by departments across campus on Saturday including Beeson Divinity School’s annual Worship Service in Hodges Chapel at 10 a.m. The new Campus Recreation, Wellness & Athletics Complex will host an open house beginning at 9 a.m. Saturday.
