Birmingham executive and community leader Della Fancher was named Alumnus of the Year by the Samford University School of Business during its annual undergraduate awards ceremony May 9.

Fancher, president and CEO of Founders Trust Company, holds a bachelor's degree in business and a Master of Business Administration degree, both from Samford. She is founder and president of the Alabama Veterans Memorial Foundation, and president of the Cahaba Heights Citizens Association. Fancher serves as chairman of the 36-member Samford School of Business Dean's advisory board.

Three Samford business professors were also recognized for outstanding performance in various categories: Dr. Mary Ann Hocutt, excellence in teaching; Dr. James E. King, outstanding scholarship; and Dr. Jennings Marshall, distinguished service.
