Dr. Cimbora holds PhD and MA degrees in clinical psychology from the University of Denver. He completed his accredited internship at the University of New Mexico Health Sciences Center, Department of Psychiatry. He holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of Washington.

Dr. Cimbora’s academic and professional career spans four decades. His first appointment was at Biola University, where he served as faculty in the Rosemead School of Psychology. He served 22 years at Biola, obtaining the rank of tenured full professor. His undergraduate and graduate courses centered on psychopathology, assessment and therapy service delivery. He held multiple administrative positions at Biola, including Director of Clinical Training and Associate Dean of Doctoral Programs.

In 2020, Dr. Cimbora became Dean of the College of Behavioral and Health Sciences at George Fox University. He quickly transitioned into the role of Executive Dean, overseeing the Division of Health Sciences for the university. This division involved 13 programs across undergraduate, masters and doctoral levels. Program growth and development were hallmarks of his leadership. He executed a strategy of interprofessional education and training, bringing professions and disciplines together to enhance student outcomes and patient care.

Dr. Cimbora has held numerous leadership positions at regional and national levels. Most notably, he served as President of the National Council of Schools and Programs of Professional Psychology (NCSPP). He also served as Chair of the Council of Chairs of Training Councils (CCTC), an assembly of presidents and other executive leaders within the field of professional psychology.

His scholarship pursuits have emphasized the topics of leadership, multicultural responsiveness, and forensic psychology. These have resulted in journal articles and book chapters, along with regional and national presentations. Supporting student research became a focus in his career, as he served as primary and secondary advisors on dissertations for numerous students in PhD and PsyD clinical psychology programs. 

Dr. Cimbora has an extensive professional service delivery record in clinical psychology. He maintained a private practice for more than 22 years. He has a passion for addressing international health disparity through work with underserved populations. Most notably, Dr. Cimbora oversees an annual interprofessional health service mission trip to Costa Rica, involving graduate and undergraduate students and faculty. Finally, he has served in student athletics as a coach of player development at both the high school and collegiate level.

Dr. Cimbora is married to Marie, and together they have two adult sons.
