Two recent news stories highlight the life and ministry of Robert Smith Jr., longtime professor of preaching at Samford University's Beeson Divinity School, and Beeson's 2024 alumna of the year, Cecelia Walker.

Outreach Magazine recently interviewed Smith and discussed "his long career in Christian ministry and mentoring and teaching future church leaders, intercultural ministry, and his thoughts on how to keep our vigor for evangelism fresh." Smith recently retired after 27 years of service to Beeson Divinity School.

Local media outlet Bham Now featured Walker, who serves as executive director of chaplaincy and clinical pastoral education for Brookwood Baptist Health, as well as being active in ministry. Walker was recently honored as Beeson's 2024 alumna of the year.
