Concentration in Cybersecurity
Computer Science majors with a concentration in cybersecurity are equipped with skills in threats, vulnerabilities, cyber defense mechanisms, encryption, authentication and security policies.
In upper-level cybersecurity courses, students receive targeted training in Security Management (risk assessment, policy, and regulatory compliance), Cyber Engineering (secure system design and configuration management), and Cyber Operations (incident response, threat detection, and security monitoring). Hands-on labs and real-world security incident analyses are woven throughout the curriculum.
Program Goals
The concentration in Cybersecurity blends theoretical foundations with practical applications and is designed to equip students with the knowledge and skills needed to protect digital assets and information systems from cyber threats.
The programmatic goals are to:
- Develop a solid understanding of core cybersecurity principles.
- Enhance critical thinking and problem-solving skills in cybersecurity contexts.
- Prepare students for real-world cybersecurity challenges through practical application and analysis.
- Promote collaboration and teamwork among students.
