Dr. Skinner was excited to join the faculty at Samford University’s Moffett & Sanders School of Nursing in the fall of 2023.  Her previous experience includes providing care to adult medical-surgical patients in the hospital setting for over seven years, along with involvement in both unit level and hospital leadership. She assisted in the implementation of pilot programs to aid in better patient flow at two major urban hospitals, leading to a piqued interest in studying systems thinking. With personal experience of the nursing shortage, Dr. Skinner felt called to undergraduate teaching to better prepare nursing students for the current healthcare climate. Outside of work she enjoys painting, sewing, and spending time with loved ones. She is an active member of Independent Presbyterian Church.
