Cumberland School of Law has released the bar exam pass results for the class of 2022. Taken in July, the first-time test taker pass rate on exams across the country is 89% for the class.
As usual, most of the class participated in the Alabama bar exam. The pass rate for first-time test takers who took the Alabama exam in July was 89%, the highest passage rate for July test-takers in the last 10 years. Cumberland graduates also took exams in Colorado, Florida, Georgia, New Mexico, New York, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee and Texas.
Cumberland School of Law’s Academic Support Program provides bar preparation programming for current students and graduates and connects them with bar prep course providers, paying for the course for every graduate who takes the bar exam within two years after graduation.
Lynn Hogewood, director of academic support, said, “Many factors contribute to the bar exam pass rate. We are continuing to evaluate and make changes and add in programming so that we can press toward the goal of helping every Cumberland School of Law graduate pass the bar. I am proud of the class of 2022 for their hard work."
Dean Blake Hudson said, “We are proud of our graduates who worked hard and passed the bar despite the difficulties presented by Covid over the course of their academic careers. This year’s success is due in no small part to the tireless effort of Lynn Hogewood and the changes in our academic support programming that she, former Dean Strickland, and other faculty administrators put into place in recent years. While we celebrate the success of those who passed, we want to come alongside those who did not to be a resource for them as they work to achieve passage next time around.”
