JURIST has published a new commentary by William G. Ross, Cumberland School of Law's Albert P. Brewer Professor of Law and Ethics, in which he offers an opinion on President Biden’s proposal for U.S. Supreme Court term limits.

In the commentary, Ross notes that although the proposal for 18-year term limits for Supreme Court Justices has some merit in terms of aligning the Court's composition with election results, the potential threat to judicial independence ultimately outweighs its benefits.

Ross is a nationally recognized expert on constitutional law and American legal history, among other legal topics.
