Samford University’s Brock School of Business is proud to welcome Reginald J. Harris as Assistant Professor of Management and the newest member of the business school faculty.

Professor Harris received his bachelor’s degree in mathematics at the University of Houston in 2001, followed by a Master of Business Administration at Augusta University in 2012. In the last year, Harris completed his Ph. D. in entrepreneurship and strategy at Florida State University.

Samford’s unique culture excited Harris about starting his new job on campus. “Samford is known as a great community with a strong sense of ethical responsibility due to its Christian foundation,” he said. “It will be interesting to learn how that enables me to approach the task of teaching and creating unique learning experiences.”

“We are fortunate to have Dr. Harris join our fulltime teaching faculty. His strong background in ministry, combined with his work experience and excellent education at Florida State’s College of Business, make him an ideal addition to our Department of Management, Marketing and Entrepreneurship,” said Dean Howard Finch.

Prior to entering the academic world, Professor Harris spent more than a decade in the ministry field as a missions coordinator and campus ministry director. He served students by leading Bible studies and offering practical aid to international students.

Professor Harris also organized, coordinated and led community service events, disaster relief trips and international mission trips across Houston, Los Angeles and Augusta, Georgia.

One specific trip shaped his life as he was able to meet and learn from those suffering religious persecution in nearby countries. “It was such a dazzling city catering to unlimited wealth, but it also showed lack of freedom that I take as commonplace here in the United States.”

Professor Harris and his wife, Jennifer, originate from Augusta, Georgia where they met in graduate school. They spend their time traveling, having only 26 states they have yet to visit in the country.
