Brooks Hall 134

Howard College of Arts and Sciences will host the 2024 Timothy Sumner Robinson Forum on Tuesday, Oct. 8 at 5 p.m. in Brooks Hall 134. This year's forum will feature Jerry Mitchell, an investigative journalist and founder of the Mississippi Center for Investigative Reporting.

Mitchell’s work has led to convictions in several civil rights cases, including the 1963 assassination of Medgar Evers, the Birmingham church bombing that killed four young girls and the 1964 murders of civil rights workers Chaney, Goodman and Schwerner. His investigative efforts also brought about the conviction of Felix Vail in 2016, the oldest conviction in a serial killer case in U.S. history. His memoir Race Against Time details these pursuits and was released in 2020.

This event is an opportunity for students, faculty and members of the local community to hear firsthand from a journalist who has made an impact on American history through his pursuit of justice.
