Howard College of Arts and Sciences will host its annual J. Roderick Davis Lecture on Thursday, Oct. 3 at 7 p.m. in Reid Chapel. This year’s lecture will feature Felicia Wu Song, a cultural sociologist whose work explores the intersection of digital technologies with relationships, communities and faith.

Song is the author of “Restless Devices: Recovering Personhood, Presence, and Place in the Digital Age,” a book that delves into how individuals, particularly people of faith, can reshape their digital habits. Her insights, grounded in both her sociological expertise and theological commitments as a Christian, offer a rich perspective on navigating the complexities of the digital world.

In anticipation of Dr. Song’s visit, a limited number of free copies of her book will be available for those interested in participating in a discussion group prior to the event. To register and receive a copy of the book, please contact Josh Reeves at jareeves@samford.edu or Carol Ann Vaughn Cross at cavaughn@samford.edu by Wednesday, September 4.

This lecture is an opportunity for the Samford community to engage with Song’s work and reflect on the impact of digital technology on our lives. All are encouraged to attend and participate in this enriching event.
