Christian Sanchez obtained his BA in chemistry from Pepperdine University and his PhD from Emory University. At Pepperdine, his introduction to chemistry research was in natural product isolation and characterization from native plants in the Santa Monica Mountains. His doctoral work focused on natural product total synthesis and the development of novel quaternary phosphonium cationic biocides as antimicrobials. His current research focuses on combatting antimicrobial resistance through synthesis chemistry.

Sanchez is originally from Los Angeles, California, where he enjoyed endless sunshine and warmth. He married his college sweetheart, Madison, and they currently have one son.
