Kim Gerlach is a multidisciplinary artist. She teaches art for children and adults at Samford University Academy of the Arts.

Gerlach began her art lessons very early in life.  Learning from her uncles, she got to experience an appreciation for art and the skill it takes to create.  Her current work uses bright colors and playful imagery.  As a multidisciplinary artist, Gerlach paints, draws, does ceramics, and works as a  printmaker.  She currently has work in the Southern Magnolia Gallery in Leeds, Alabama and does a variety of festivals and art shows in the Birmingham area.

Kim Gerlach graduated from Anderson University in Anderson South Carolina with her BA in Painting and Drawing.  She has also received her MA from the University of Alabama, Birmingham in History and has been continuing her education at the University of Montevallo.  Gerlach currently works as an art teacher in the Birmingham City school system.  She has given guest lectures at Samford University, at various Conferences and Professional Developments on social and emotional learning within the art classroom.  Gerlach is an active member of the Connected Art Network and is currently working as a teaching artist for Fine Arts Find Life and routing artist for UAB Arts in Medicine.  Gerlach is also a member of Paperworkers Local which is located in Birmingham, Alabama.

Kim Gerlach has been creating art for the past 25 years.  She currently lives in Pinson, Alabama with her husband of seventeen years and their three boys.
