The Samford University planetarium will host a multimedia video production, "Star of Bethlehem," at 7:30 p.m. on five Tuesday and Thursday nights in December. The public is invited free of charge. The production examines possible scientific explanations for the star of Bethlehem, including a bolide meteor or comet, a planetary conjunction or individual planet, a nova or supernova. The presentation will include a brief introductory lecture by planetarium director George Atchley, who says that people do not need an astronomy background to find the presentation entertaining and educational. The 100-seat planetarium, which features a 200-degree wraparound screen, is located in the north wing of Samford's Sciencenter. Groups of 10 or more are requested to call in advance.
