The Wright Center is dedicated to providing first-rate customer service and ensuring memorable experiences for patrons and performers alike. The Wright Center is owned and operated by Samford University.

 

The Leslie S. Wright Fine Arts Center is staffed by experienced facility and event professionals who are excited to work with you to make your event the best possible.  The Wright Center has a full-time technical director who can handle all staging and production fees, and has the ability to handle most crew calls.  The Wright Center can offer a full range of event services in addition to production, including, but not limited to:  audio-visual support, catering, event and specialized staffing, marketing and publicity, parking and shuttle service.  The Wright Center also features a full-service box office, available to provide complete ticketing services through ticketing partner AudienceView.

Location and Maps 

 The Leslie S. Wright Fine Arts Center is located on the Samford University campus at 800 Lakeshore Drive in Homewood, Alabama.  The facility is centrally-located in the Birmingham Metropolitan area, allowing patrons from throughout the area to easily attend your event.  Birmingham-Shuttlesworth International Airport is less than 15 minutes away, and downtown Birmingham is just minutes away for visitors.  Quick access to Interstates 65 and 20-59 as well as Highway 280 makes the Wright Center easily accessible for guests, and there are numerous dining and hotel accommodations nearby.  For maps of the Samford campus and surrounding area, as well as local hotel accommodations, visit http://www.samford.edu/maps.aspx 

 

Parking 

There is no charge for Parking on the Samford Campus. There is plentiful parking within walking distance of the Wright Center, with the majority of the parking nearest the West entrance of the Samford campus off of Lakeshore Drive.  For more information, please see the complete map of parking  on the Samford campus.  

 

Handicapped Accessibility 

Handicapped parking is located in the west parking lot adjacent to the Wright Center.  Entrance to the facility is directly available from that parking.  

 

 

 

 

In order to ensure the safety and security of all patrons attending events in the Wright Center, the following policies are in place regarding entrance to the facility.

Admission Policies:

All persons, bags and containers are subject to search as a condition of entry to the Wright Center. Search is voluntary and persons declining to be searched may depart and obtain full refund of the ticket price by bringing the unused ticket to the box office within five (5) business days following the event.

* Late arriving patrons will be seated at the discretion of the House Manager. No refund is available for patrons missing a portion of a show due to late arrival.

The Wright Center reserves the right to refuse entry to any patron if they reasonably feel said patron might be disruptive to the performers or other patrons. Patrons refused entry will be entitled to a full refund of the ticket price.

Bag Policies:

The Wright Center event staff retains the right to forbid patrons to bring in extraneous items which could be used for carrying or concealing items or could obstruct other patrons. These items may include, but are not limited to, parcels, packages, large pocket books, tote bags, containers, bundles, knapsacks, backpacks, umbrellas, coolers, bags, cartons, paper sacks, duffel bags, briefcases, portfolio cases, binocular cases, and camera equipment cases

Patrons with prohibited items will be allowed to return such items to their vehicles or dorms but will not be able to leave such items outside the facility doors. Any such items left outside will be immediately discarded by the facility staff.

Small purses and baby bags are allowed, but will be subject to search.

Doors:

Doors to the Wright Center will usually open 60 minutes prior to curtain, with doors to the Theatre opening 30 minutes before curtain.  All patrons must have a ticket to enter the Theatre.

Prohibited Items:

The following items are prohibited from being brought into the Wright Center:

Alcoholic Beverages
Audio or Video Recording equipment
Cameras (camera policies vary on an event by event basis, tripods are never allowed)
Bags or Backpacks (larger than 10”x 8”x 8”)
Cans, Glass or Metal containers
Coolers (unless containing medical supplies)
Fireworks or any Explosives
Folding Chairs
Food and Beverage (unless needed for medical reasons)
Helium Balloons
Illegal Drugs
Knives of any size
Laser Pointers
Pets (except service animals for the disabled)
Promotional items with commercial identification
Signs, banners, flags or any other items that would either obstruct the view of a patron or serve as a safety risk
 
Umbrellas
Weapons of any description (weapons carried with a permit are also prohibited)
Any other items that in the judgment of The Wright Center management poses a safety risk or could diminish the enjoyment of an event by other patrons.
