Our Story

Perhaps you’ve heard of the box office success of The Avengers.  Perhaps you have not heard of the Samford connection.  Thanks to Robin Snyder, assistant professor of art, for passing along our story for the week:  “Jed Miller (son of Nancy Miller, associate registrar) had completed a computer engineering degree from another institution but decided to follow his passion of animation.  He enrolled at Samford and received his BS in Art in the fall of 2002.  As he was working through theSamford art degree requirements, Dr. Lowell Vann was instrumental in helping him refine his portfolio so that he could apply to film schools.  Other art faculty were also important in his development.  Upon receiving his degree from Samford, Jed was accepted into the Vancouver Film School.  Since his graduation from Vancouver, Jed has worked with and been employed by George Lucas and other well-known directors and animators.  Jed's film credits include Rango and The Avengers.

The world is better because Samford people are animated.  (Give me a break; this is finals week.)
