Health Systems Management and Leadership Program

The Health Systems Management and Leadership program prepares graduates to function as a manager in primary care provider organizations, acute care organizations, organizations providing care and services to the geriatric population, as well as other provider organizations.  Students have the option of concentrating course work in one of these areas.  Based on the Nurse Manager Leadership Collaborative (AONE, American Association of Critical-Care Nurses and the Association of Peri-Operative Registered Nurses) Learning Domain Framework, the American Organization of Nurse Executives (AONE) Nurse Manager Skill Inventory, and the American Nurses Association (ANA) Scope and Standards for Nurse Administrators across All Settings, the 30 credit program can be completed in five semesters.  Upon completion, students will have acquired 500 post BSN hours applicable toward the DNP degree and may be eligible to sit for the American Nurses Credentialing Nurse Executive certification: NE-BC.

 Health Systems Management and Leadership Students:

The Health Systems Management and Leadership track prepares the graduate to:

  • Assume first-line leadership and management roles in organizations
  • Employ management skills that facilitate collaborative relationships while functioning as a member of the organization's management team
  • Interpret clinical and management related research findings to improve organizational and client outcomes, and the utilization of clinical and fiscal resources
