Fourth-Graders to Attend Water Festival at Samford

Posted by Mary Wimberley on 2005-10-21

About 1,600 fourth-grade students from Birmingham City Schools will participate in the third annual Water Festival at Samford University Monday and Tuesday (OCT. 24 and 25).

"W.A.T.E.R. is a Totally Excellent Resource" is the theme of this year's event, during which students will learn the different parts of the water cycle and why each is important to life. They also learn what they can do to keep water clean and unpolluted.

The students will enjoy hands-on activities and a water-related magic show presented by the Fishing Magician.

The Water Festival is sponsored by Samford's Vulcan Materials Center for Environmental Stewardship and Education and other area businesses, governmental agencies and environmental and conservation groups.
