2005 Samford Homecoming Court Members Announced

Samford University's 2005 Homecoming Court has been announced in anticipation of a weekend of activities Oct. 28-30.

Court members are: seniors Brian Cook of Decatur, Ala., Brandon Foltz of Nashville, Tenn., Olivia Keaggy of Nashville, Tenn., Emily Morris of Memphis, Tenn., Jacob Simmons of Hendersonville, Tenn., and Ann Claire Vaughn of Paris, Tenn.; juniors Suzie Hornor of Germantown, Tenn., and Chad Robison of Knoxville, Tenn.; sophomores Stephanie Elliott of Birmingham and Bobby Smith of Pensacola, Fla.; and freshmen Paul Anderson of Jacksonville, Fla., and Lauren Smith of Brookhaven, Miss.

Class representatives were chosen by members of the respective classes. The queen and honor escort are chosen by vote of the student body and will be announced during halftime of Samford's Homecoming football game against Tennessee State University Saturday (OCT. 29) at 1:30 p.m. in Seibert Stadium.

A banquet on Friday will honor Alumni of the Year Betsy Box, Class of 1971, William E. Hull, Class of 1951, and Durwood McAlister, Class of 1949.

Saturday's activities include an on-campus parade at 10:30 a.m., reunions and a barbecue lunch, and two evening performances by comedian Bill Cosby. The parade will be led by Samford President Thomas E. Corts, and his wife, Marla, as grand marshals.

Homecoming weekend events will conclude on Sunday with a 10 a.m. worship service in A. Gerow Hodges Chapel. Samford alumnus Philip Wise, senior pastor of Second Baptist Church, Lubbock, Texas, will speak.
