Melinda Toole Named Miss Samford University

Melinda Toole, a senior elementary education major from Birmingham, was crowned Miss Samford University 2006 Friday, Nov. 4. She will represent Samford in the Miss Alabama pageant in June.

Toole also won the lifestyle, fitness and swimsuit award, and was picked by contestants to receive the congeniality award. A graduate of Pinson Valley High School, she is the daughter of Ann and Donald Toole. Her pageant platform is character education.

Finalists were Charissa Cowart of Mobile, first runner-up; and Katie Robertson of Atlanta, Ga., second runner-up.

Jessica Terry of Birmingham won the talent competition for her piano performance.
