Beeson's Lay Academy of Theology Offers Varied Opportunities

Samford University's Beeson Divinity School will offer a variety of study opportunities this fall through its Lay Academy of Theology.  The classes are available for interested laity as well as ministers who desire continuing education.

Three early fall courses led by Beeson faculty members will begin at 6 p.m. and meet for two hours.

Course topics, leaders and dates are: Followers of the Lamb---Living in Rhythm with the Book of Revelation, led by Dr. Douglas D. Webster, six Monday nights beginning September 24; A Multi-Voice Choir---The Minor Prophets, led by Dr. Mark Gignilliat, six Tuesday nights beginning September 25; and Sin and Forgiveness, led by Dr. Piotr Malysz, six Thursday nights beginning September 27.

Beeson research professor Dr. Gerald Bray will lead two weeklong seminars that will meet weekdays, 1:30-3:30 p.m., in November and January.

God Has Spoken will be the topic November 26-30. The seminar looks at how God has spoken to his people in the history of the Christian church, and is the subject of a forth-coming book by Dr. Bray. "Our Puritan Heritage" will be the topic Jan. 28-Feb. 1, 2013. The seminar will examine who the Puritans were, what they believed and what they did.

Course and seminar prices are $79 for early registration or $105 within a week of start date.

Veteran writers Denise George and Carolyn Tomlin will lead sessions of their popular Boot Camp for Christian Writers on three Saturdays this fall: Writing-to-Publish, The Basic Foundations, Sept. 8;  The Basics of Article Publishing for Print Magazines & Online Magazines OR Publishing Your Book with a Traditional Publisher, Oct 20; and Eight Articles Editors Love-And How to Write Them, Dec. 1.

Each writing seminar is $139 one week prior to start date or $155 thereafter.
