The Philanthropy Awareness Council
The Philanthropy Awareness Council is an undergraduate initiative to promote an awareness of the importance of giving to Samford University. As current students experiencing the gifts of our alumni, we must begin to take responsibility for future generations. As alumni, we are accountable for the continual success Samford achieves.
All donors to Samford University may support any area they choose. The Philanthropy Awareness Council initiative is highlighting the Student Emergency Assistance Fund, which provides students the necessities they may need during their Samford experience. For example, should a student need a tank of gas to go home for the holidays, a plane ticket to attend a family funeral, or toiletries during a month when they have none, students may apply for emergency financial assistance. Requests are confidential, and awards are considered by the Student Government Association Student Executive Board. Requests should be directed to Kim Cripps (firstname.lastname@example.org, 726-4180).
Tuition revenue only covers 69% of the Samford experience. To keep tuition from rising, we must increase the percentage of contributions from alumni, parents, and friends.
Currently, 31% of the Samford experience is provided by the generosity of our donors.
The Philanthropy Awareness Council asks that you make a gift in the amount of your class year to begin this annual tradition upon graduation.
As so many of you have benefited from the generosity of those who came before you, your gifts will provide opportunities for future generations of Samford students.
Every day, people connected to Samford University make a difference by supporting areas they love. Talk to your professors and ask what needs they may have to enhance the departments that have made a difference to you. You can always give in honor or memory of someone who has truly shaped your Samford experience.
