Group Two:  Buzz! Buzz!

Rising Grades 1-2

From a mischievous little mosquito to a courageous insignificant spider, campers will explore several of life’s truths.  Gaining inspiration from classic stories such as Ananzi the Spider by Gerald McDermmott and Why Mosquitoes Buzz in People’s Ears by Verna Aardema, campers will bring the stories to life.  With the guidance of a theatre instructor, campers will write the lines for a play, create the backdrop, costumes and props and then perform their creation on the Harrison Stage.  In addition, students will participate in theatre games and activities.

Group Three:  Walk Like An Egyptian!

Rising Grades 3-5

Mummies, pharaohs and pyramids, oh, my!  Gathering inspiration from timeless tales of Ancient Egyptian Mythology, campers will explore classic characters such as Ra, Tut, the Sphinx, and Cleopatra. With the guidance of a theatre instructor, the campers will write the lines for a play, create the backdrop, costumes and props and then perform their creation on the Harrison Stage.  In addition, students will participate in theatre games and activities.

Synopsis:  In the fairy tale criminal justice system, the characters from fairy tales and nursery rhymes are represented by two separate yet equally ridiculous groups: the fairy tale police who investigate fairy tale crime, and the fairy tale district attorneys who prosecute the fairy tale offenders.  These are their stories.  Jonathan Rand has written five of the top ten most-produced plays in North American high schools.

The performance will take place on the Harrison Stage, June 19 at 7 pm.  In addition, students will participate in theatre games and activities.
